Jackson Browne - The Broadcast Collection 1974-1993 (CD)

The songwriter's songwriter, Jackson Browne left his fingerprints all over the US West Coast scene of the early 70s, Eagles having scored their first hit in 1972, with their recording of the Browne-penned 'Take It Easy', and the likes of Linda Ronstadt and The Byrds all laying down versions of his songs, even as Browne himself took them into the charts on albums such as Late for the Sky (1974) and The Pretender (1976). As the TV performances gathered together on Broadcast Collection 1974-1993 show, there was never a time when he didn't command respect, whether on mid-70s appearances with Eagles ('You Bright Baby Blues') or Ronstadt ('Take It Easy', also with Eagles), or on latter-day duets with Bonnie Raitt ('World In Motion', 1990) and Jennifer Warnes ('Golden Slumbers', 1991).

Proof that fine songwriting never ages, these timeless performances capture the self-proclaimed pretender delivering the real-deal goods at every opportunity.
